Introduction to your iPod and Podcasting

Step #1. Unpackage your iPod and work with your learning partner to become familiar with it's basic navigation and features. DO NOT plug your Nano into the lab computer at this time.

Step #2. Watch this video tutorial to learn how to download music, video and podcasts to your new iPod. Additional tutorials can be selected from the menu on the right hand side of the web page. They will take you through how to use all the features.

Step #3. For a tutorial on podcasts available through iTunesU, click here.

Just for Fun: Click on the image of the iPods above to go to the Apple Web site.  Once you have arrived on the site, click on Watch the Video to see a short tour, sharing some of the new features of your silver 8Gb Nano.

For More Information:  Download the User Guide for your 4th generation  iPod.   iPod_nano_4th_gen_UserGuide.pdf

Step #4.  (After Class)

a.  Download iTunes from the Apple web site if you do not already have the application loaded on your computer.

b. Connect the iPod to your computer. Note that iTunes is set to automatically open. Do not unplug the iPod while the computer is recognizing and syncing the iPod.

c. Select iTunesU for a display of education content providers. Search for a podcast to download. To narrow your search, try Education Providers (K-12) or Featured Providers (Edutopia).

d. Click on Get in the iTunes menu to download the podcast.

e. Select Sync and you are all set to listen to podcasts on your Nano.

Tip: Syncing your new iPod to multiple computers requires setting changes. Click here for more information. Take note of the links on the left side, under Related Articles, that address additional questions that you may have -  such as how to sync to more than one iPod with your computer.
